"Schweizerhaus"
Situated in the Mulde valley in the foothills of the Erzgebirge mountains, this „large“ district capital (population approx. 7400) has preserved its old-fashioned charm in a beautiful environment and boasts many attractions and well preserved historic buildings. The town is dominated by “Rochlitz Mountain” (353m above sea level) with its 27m lookout. 250 million years ago this was still a volcano. The lava set to form porphyry tuff that is famous far beyond Saxony and this quality is found nowhere else in Europe. You can visit the quarries to see it in its natural environment. Another Rochlitz landmark is the castle. But the town with its historic centre is an attraction in its own right. The youth hostel is located on the southern outskirts with views of the town and “Castle Valley”.
People of 27 years or over pay a surcharge of €3 per night.
Surcharge for single and twin rooms p. p. p. n. (subject to availability): Single: €10 Twin: €4 (doesn’t apply to group guides);
Rebate for children: Up to 2 years free of charge, 3 – 13 years 30% rebate;
Group rebate: For a group of 20 paying customers another one totally free (accommodation, sheets and meals at the YH).

| Bus: | From Leipzig: A14 exit Grimma, then B107 via Colditz to Rochlitz or B2 via Espenhain until just outside Borna, then B176 via Bad Lausick and Colditz to Rochlitz. From Dresden: A14 exit Döbeln-Nord (north), then B175 to Rochlitz, in Rochlitz pass the bridge over the river Mulde, after 200m turn right into Zaßnitzer Straße or A4 exit Hainichen, then via Mittweida to Rochlitz, turn left in front of the bridge over river Mulde, after 200m turn right into Zaßnitzer Straße. From Chemnitz: A4 exit Chemnitz-Glösa, then B107 through Chemnitztal to Rochlitz or A4 exit Chemnitz-Nord (north), then B95 to Penig, B175 to Rochlitz. From Zwickau: B175 via Glauchau, Waldenburg to Rochlitz. |
