The Hostel Cidade Maravilhosa is in a cockloft built in 1896, located in the Gloria neighborhood, one of the oldest sections of the city of Rio de Janeiro.
All accommodations are suites with ceiling fans, refrigerator, hot water shower.
We also offer: Cable TV, DVD Player, laundry room, lounge and an entirely equipped kitchen.
We have an excellent leisure area, with a barbecue grill, steam sauna and a Jacuzzi, all available to our guests.
We welcome groups.

| Location: | The Cidade Maravilhosa Hostel is the better located youth hostel from HI network, in Rio de Janeiro. It is in the neighborhood of Gloria, near the Marina da Glória and Aterro do Flamengo, and the hostel is really close to Lapa, Santa Teresa and the cultural and commercial center of Rio. It is the beginning of the southern area of the city and still provides easy access to major sights as Corcovado / Christ Redeemer, Sugar Loaf, Arches of Lapa, Cathedral and the most beautiful beaches in the region. |

| I ended up cancelling my reservation at Cidade Maravilhosa Hostel, so cannot comment on it. However, the hostel did make it difficult to cancel - I called, but they said they could not cancel the reservation by phone. Instead, I would have to send them an email. I never received an email confirmation of the cancellation. | ||

| We meet the very friendly staff (Carlos & Michael)who gave us tips on what to do around in a budget. The location end up actually being perfect, close to Gloria Metro station in walking distance to the city centre and right next to Lapa for really great parties on the weekend!!... we end up staying there all that we had planned plus an extra night. The rooms are pretty standard but comfortable (except bring your own pillow!!), breakkie was a great addition and we meet great people over there!!...Obviously, you are in Rio so you need to take care, dont look like a tourist and if going out at night go with a group... just have common sense and you will have a great time!!... we did it all and nothing happend to us!!... all and all we spend a great time in rio at Ciudade Maravilhosa!! | I've been in several Hostels in Brazil and abroad and, for sure, it was the best stay ever. The hostel is very well located, in a walking distance from Lapa, where the nightlife is and also near to the subway. Also, the the staff was amazingly friendly. We spent a really good time with them going to the Salgueiro's samba school. Simply amazing. | ||

| Passei uma noite no hostel e posso dizer que de todos os hostels que ja fui esse é o melhor.. As meninas da recepção são muito atenciosas, sempre procurando ajudar dando informações. O hostel é bem limpo e o café da manhã é muito bom, com várias opções. E os quartos tem banheiro dentro! Muito bom! Com certeza quando precisar de novo voltarei ao cidade maravilhosa hostel! | ||

| The Hostel Charged $US80 for a bed in a small 6 bed dorm. There was no hot water in the bathroom and the Air conditioning was only working from 8PM to 8AM.The bedroom door was damaged and could not be kept closed without locking it. | ||
