Welcome to El Viajero Hostels Uruguay & Colombia, the biggest Hostel and B&B network in the best locations of Uruguay (Colonia, Montevideo, Punta del Este and La Pedrera) and of Colombia (Cartagena de Indias and in September 2011 San Andres Island).

| My experience with HI hostels was extremely poor. I arrived at the appropriate time and date only to be informed that my reservation had been cancelled the night before. Why? Because HI sent wrong information to the hostel I was staying in (El Viajero Brava Beach). You said I was arriving the day before and seeinng as I didn't show, they cancelled my reservation. There were no other rooms in my price range available so I had to spend the weekend at a friends house. I thank god that he was in town, otherwise it would have been a catasthropy. I am apalled with this service and I doubt I will ever use it again, while informing all of my acquanitance of your ineptitude.

| Everything was very good, the staff is very nice and gratefull
The room was confortable and clean, it has hot water, own private bath, LCD with cable tv
The breakfast was good

| The whole hostel is a bit chilly in the winter. Make sure you have a jacket to wear inside and out. The under the bed lockers in the dorm were a nice idea, but you can just life the bed off the floor and get into them---Although I had no problem when I was there. | ||

Por otra parte, tampoco me devolvieron el dinero de la reserva. Por lo tanto, no volveré a confiar en el servicio de reserva de hostels por HI. | ||

| Good, easy-going hostel, with a nice kitchen and nice living/dnning room.
But we were quite astonished after leaving the hotel to discover that the exchange rate practicated when paying in foreign currency includes a huge margin !! (more than 6 to 1 instead of nearly 5.2 to 1 in banks)... Maybe a mistake from the staff ? We send them an email to found out what happened and are waiting for their reply. | ||

| The beds were really unsteady and sleeping on the top bunk was a little scary.

| A nice hostel with a good common area for meeting people. My one gripe would be with the reservation process. Even if you make a reservation through the HI website you still need to provide you Credit Card security number and also your arrival time. | ||
