The hostel is located in picturesque surroundings in Ryfylke (altitude 250 m). This is a good starting point for walks to the famous Pulpit Rock (2 hours one way). The hostel offers excellent opportunities for walking and fishing. Preikestolhytta is a mountain hostel and from time to time the cellphone- and Internet connection may be down. Preikestolen Youth Hostel is located 1 hour from Stavanger centre. Ferry transport from Stavanger to Tau, some with bus conncection to the youth hostel. If you are driving it is also possible to drive by Lauvik - Oanes.
