On Prinzeninsel Island, approx. 1km away, there is a life-guarded beach.

| Location: | The youth hostel is located directly on Great Plön Lake, about 2km from the town centre, on the B430 in direction of Neumünster. |
| Rail: | Plön railway station is on the Kiel-Lübeck route. It’s about half an hour’s walk from the station to the hostel. The youth hostel is well signposted. Local bus #360 (direction Aschberg) to bus stop "Spitzenort" at the youth hostel. |
