This cozy hostel is located in historic premises in Norrbotten's first hospital, overlooking Spa Park and Strömsund canal. The Spa Park meets young and old, visitors and Piteå residents for picnics, sunbathing and games. During the summer there is a restaurant here where you can eat and drink well. The park is also home to northern Sweden's largest flea market, which takes place on Saturday mornings from June to mid September. More events near us, you can find on the tip of Events www.piteå.se.
The hostel is very central, very close to Sweden's first pedestrian street and is a comfortable and attractive accommodation.
In summer you can as Piteå visitors enjoy one of the largest street festivals - Piteå Dances and Smiles - by 120 000 visitors each year. The city is also famous for its shallow sea, which draws crowds of visitors each year. Or take a golftur at Piteå Golf Club, 4 miles from the center, with an 18-hole course and a 9-hole course.
Piteå archipelago offers a genuine cultural environments and great places to swim with daylight around the clock - at least in summer. An hour inland, is the Grand Rapids, a mighty torrent that both can be seen and fished in. In winter there are also opportunities for ice fishing and dog sled or snowmobile tours in the vicinity of the rapids.
Base Piles of today Piteå is Öjebyn, a church town, dating from the 1400s. The village consists today of the overnight cottages used by long-range church visitors and hosts a church market according to ancient tradition, every summer. In Öjebyn also Paltzerian, where the district's famous black pudding served in both traditional form and in smaklöksretande variants fried dumplings with gravlax.
Piteå is also home to prominent athletes as hockey player Mikael Renberg and skier Magdalena Pajala and the city held annually the second biggest football tournament, Piteå Summer Games, with over 10 000 participants.
Pite's residents are a hospitable people who are characterized by Pite spirit - that most of it is if we help each other. There is also a separate language, Pitebonschka, which among other things kept alive in local songs and revues. Experience Piteå year round, day and night!
