At HI Phuket hostel there is no need to pay a lot more to stay on the beach, our dormitory starts from 180bt including breakfast, we're only a couple of km from the sea (Chalong bay) motorcycle taxi cost 30bt to the beach.
This 5-storey building is a place for tourists to get together and exchange their travelling experiences. HI Phuket hostel is clean, quiet and provides a friendly atmosphere. It is well located on the main street, where local buses stop right in front of the hostel. We offer package tours for island hopping, elephant ride, snorkelling, diving etc. We also offer hire motorcycle and car rental. Our staff have local knowledge and can advise you what to see and do.
Remarks: - Dorm Rooms are fan only. Double Rooms and Private Rooms are air-conditioned rooms.
- Beds in Dorm room option: 2-bedded Dorm and 3-bedded Dorm ,subject to availability upon check-in
From bus station, ask driver to go close to Chalong temple (in Thai Chalong Wat). The hostel is on Chao Fah Tawan Tok (which is on road Chao Fah west). Be careful! There are 2 roads called Chao Fah: one west and the other east. The hostel is on the west.
Do not believe to people that say that hostel is closed. They try to sell you another hotel.
From bus station, taxi driver will charge you around 400 baht. If you have a medium backpack, you can take a scooter at 200 baht.
From airport, a taxi driver will charge you around 800 baht. To go to Kata Beach or Karon Beach, a motorbike will charge you 150-200 baht one way.
There is a 7-Eleven store close to the hostel where you can buy some food and snacks.
Why not renting a scooter/motorcycle in our hostel and visit all the beaches you want? Do you want to go to Ko Phi Phi or Phang Nga? We offer you some interesting and reasonable tours….The tour van will pick you up at our hostel and drop you back here.

| Obviously the main drawback about this place is its location, but still in my opinion it s a good value for the money you pay. For me the location was bot a big problem as I was interested in the islands and areas around Phukegt more than Phuket itself, and wherever you stay in phauket almost all organized bus-boat trips will pick you up from your hotel. Besides this hostel is very close to Chalong pier where many boats go to neighboring islands like:coral, phi phi and Rasha island. I particularly recommend Rasha island a beautiful peaceful place. I also recommend that you plan your trip a bit in advance and well compare all the possible offers from different travel agencies that organize daily trips. Besides, why not renting a car or a motorbike (safety is an issue of course, but that could save you a lot of money). Enjoy your trip, mine was AWESOME! | ||

| The problme with this hostel is LCOATION. Arriving from bus station, nobody knows where is. So print a google map and show it to scooter or taxi driver. If you a backpack, take a scooter because is cheaper. Both hostels at Phuket are far away from airport, so you have to pay a taxi. If you are taking tours to Ko Phi Phi or Phang Nga, this hostel is ok because they pick you up and drop up. But remember to show a map, because I had a hard time (almost 2 hours and 3 people helping me) to find the hostel. You can go to beaches by scooter, which can you rent it at hostel for a very low price. | ||
