The HI-Ottawa Hostel offers a clean, safe and unique overnight experience for hostellers, backpackers and travellers of all kinds. Formerly the Carleton County Gaol (Jail), this historical landmark offers an experience with character, charm and historical significance. The hostel is downtown, and makes a great base to explore Canada's Capital. Museums, Galleries, Festivals, National Historic Sites, bustling city activity and scenic recreational paths all are located close to the Ottawa Hostel.
The hostel offers shared accommodation in converted Jail cells, private accommodation as well as regular shared dorm rooms (ideal for families and groups) are also available. We have a large, fully equipped members kitchen. Your Hostelling International membership gets you discounts at many close by local restaurants and businesses designed to enhance your experience.

| Hi there, can you cancel the above booking, as I had my vacation
last year in Ottawa.. I truelly had an enjoyable time...and don't think i'll be making the trip soon due to work commitments...

| It's very close to the centre of Ottawa so walking or catching a bus to things is easy. It was clean, well equipped and convenient. The staff were really helpful and able to point us in the right direction for everything we needed.
The bed did squeek! The cell bars/doors are not all blocked out so light does get through the bars making sleep difficult if you are used to a really dark room. All of which could be put right easliy.
