Oristano the ancient name was Aristanis, that means " between the ponds". It was the capital of Arborea and it had the maximum bloom during the administartion of Eleonora d'Arborea. In that period the city of Oristano was in control of all the Sardegna Region. Today Oristano is full of a charming allure and a walk in the historic centre will be wonderful for your eyes. You have to visit Piazza Roma with the Tower of San Cristoforo, the house of Eleonora d'Arborea, dated back to the XVI century and Palazzo Parpaglia, centre of the " Antiquarium Arborense", a museum with a great archeaological collection of the neolithic, sardinian primitive history punic and romanic age. Oristano faces the sea, with about 35 km of coasts, low and sandy in some point, rocky in other points. A cycleway arrives directly from the Hostel to the sea.
