Oostende is called "the queen of cities at the sea". It is the biggest city at the Belgian coast & has a lot to offer to visitors f.eks. museums, shops, restaurants. The hostel is located only 300m away from the beach. You can visit the "Mercator" - a former trainingvessel (sailing) from the Belgian navy or wander around looking at the yachts. Guided tours by the Marine Ecological centre can be booked through the hostel.

| It's fine for a night or two, although if you don't like kids, beware. A few large school groups were staying when I was there. Overall, though, a decent, cheap base. | ||

| Some residents were making a lot of noise at night (really loud music + yelling), but the staff was nowhere to be found, it seems the complete staff leaves at 22:00 and only comes back at 8:00 or so.
For me, the most import thing about a stay at a hostel is to be able to sleep, that's what I pay for, yet I wasn't able to do so. | ||
