| Nice cosy hostel, short walk to shops and sights. I stayed in the new extention which was a lovely 4 bed ensuite room, very clean and warm.
The hostel is used most nights by Haggis tours so there were a lot of people just staying one night and the hostel bar had entertainment for them which you can join in with, there was a quiz on the first night and kareoke on my second night. The bar was busy but not too noisy but I did stay in the extention it might be louder in the main building.
The hostel offered a continental breakfast but I don't know how good it was as I had my own food.
The hostel has 3 computers free to use and had wifi in th ground floor and bar area.
The self catering kitchen was well equipped with most things you may need.
Overall I enjoyeed my stay, the staff were very friendly and helpfull and will be back again.

| A notice in the rooms saying 'no showers after 11pm,please' would be helpful..2.10am for showering in a shared dorm is a bit much. | ||

| Self catering kitchen was rather small and limited when 3 or 4 people/groups were wanting to use the facilities at the same time. What also proved a problem on a couple of accasions during our 6 night stay was the lack of a domestic sized oven, provided was a counter-top convection oven. The domestic sized oven would have permitted multiple uses to cook at the same time.
Security whilst not an apparent issue in relation to access could have been inproved as various doors around the building were left open for anyone to enter. Additionally, my own vehicle whilst parked in what I considered to be a non thoroughfare location was vandalised leaving a 50cm long very deep set of scratches to my passenger door - £450.

| we were there off season so there was only one other group staying at the hostel. The reception/bar man was exceptionally helpful in recommending local attractions and places to eat. The bar are looked really good and had a relaxed atmosphere | ||

| far too much noise from the party/bar area. Was like a city centre theme bar in party mode. this is not conducive with travel cycling as we and others were doing. people came into bed past midnight drunk, and then got up in the night due to excess consumption, this was not good. we then got up early and ended up waking them with their excessive headaches. hostels cannot do everything i know but this one stretches the boundaries too much. will not stay again which is a shame as its good otherwise. :( | ||
