Hostel Details |
It is one of Morocco's four imperial cities. Under Moulay Ismaïl's reign (1672 - 1727) it went through a huge prosperity era, and what has been left from this grandeur and other periods, makes this city an important hallmark in any trip to Morocco. Moulay Ismaïl chose Meknes as the country's capital city for strategic, political and geographic reasons. Apart from its architectural interest (obvious even for the least knowledgeable tourist), Meknes' Kasbah has a special importance, due to the fact that it was the first major realization of the Alauit Dynasty, which has been reigning in Morocco for more than 300 years.
