In the 1600 - century many people immigrated from Finland and imposed their own culture in Värmland. Today, there are small communities a concept and track and traditions live on through both culture, names, monuments and buildings.

Lekvattnet was one of the parishes that were built up by the Finns and the hostel was once a forest station. Today it offers a cozy accommodation in both cottages as dormitories. For kids there are animals to become familiar with and if the lake attracts, there are rowing boats and canoes for rent.

Värmland is a landscape of forests and crystal clear lakes. Rottnan is a nice little forest river that offers really nice paddling and that meander leisurely past the hostel and then through Finnskogen. In the river there are plenty of beaver and excellent fishing. Please visit the folk museum Karmenkynna where there are several buildings that show the immigrant Finns living conditions.
