Once the school for St Paul’s Cathedral choir boys, YHA St Pauls is just minutes from the West End by tube or bus yet provides a quiet retreat after a hectic day exploring. Looking out onto a truly iconic London scene, the hostel retains many original features including an oak panelled chapel and the headmaster's study.

The rooms were very smelly and there were no charging outlets in the room. Very inconvenient. Hostel response: We appreciate your feedback, it is very valuable to us. Unfortunately we haven't got many power outlets in the rooms, but we now have a charging station in reception where all guests can leave their devices safely charging. The staff was extremely helpful--even when they were at a busy time. Marius was especially good. maybe free wifi would help, it's free everywhere, gaming room with billiard, darts, or other games would help to people know better each other. We try to keep our prices at a minimum by leaving all the extras such as the meals and internet access as an option to purchase if needed. The network is looking into implementing a different wifi option in the future but at the moment it's not possible. A gaming area as you suggest would be great, but unfortunately we haven't got the space for that. We are trying to get better every day, so we appreciate feedback like yours. My first trip to London was very enjoyable. St. Pauls is central located in London, and walking distance to many attractions. My next visit include staying at St. Pauls again. I stayed on St. Pauls from Friday to Sunday. I loved my room with the different beds! The hostal is in a good location and it is quiet at night. Please, keep in mind that during 'rush hour' the hot water is scarce. I will definitely come back if I go to London again. No self catering facilities!, I asked to purchase a cup of tea and was offered a miniature cup with a single sachet of UHT milk and told to get hot water from the machine. The room had a strange configuration whereby the middle bed was sandwiched between the other two leaving zero privacy. It felt like getting into bed with strangers. I don't mind sharing a room but I'd rather not share a bed. To be honest, it was just too close for comfort. Hostel response: We appreciate you taking the time to rate us. Unfortunately, the building layout makes it not possible to have self catering facilities. We are aware the design of the beds is a bit old-fashioned but it makes the most of the space too. The reception desk were very slow in dealing with all requests, I have stayed in many HI hostels and the speed of the service has been far quicker. The staff do not make any effort to be friendly and welcoming , definitely the poorest HI hostel I have stayed at, also there was no WiFi for the 3 days I was there . I am sorry that you got that impression from our service, we try to serve guests as quickly as possible, which quite often depends on our booking system!
