The town of List (Sylt island) is surrounded by impressive dunes that can be explored by walking and cycling. Almost the entire town is a nature reserve.
The “pro-conservation” youth hostel List-Mövenberg is nestled in the dunes at the northern point of Sylt island. This wonderful location is popular with groups, families and individual travellers alike. The hostel has its own “youth beach”, a 10 min walk away. From mid-June to mid-September you can swim in the North Sea surf under the watchful eye of the DLRG life guards.

| Bus: | By car or coach to Niebüll train station, there loading onto the train and via the Hindenburgdamm to Sylt. |
| Sea port: | Passenger and car ferry link from List harbour to the island of Rømø (Denmark) which has a road link to the main land. |
| Location: | The youth hostel is nestled in the dunes at Königshafen, 2km north-west of List and 800m from the North Sea. |
| Rail: | From Westerland Intercity train station take bus to List (approx. 19km), from List in summer direct link to youth hostel with SVG beach bus, in the low season 2.5km walk from List-Schule. Groups are required to order a bus from SVG - Sylter Verkehrsgesellschaft (group price). |
