Very clean. Friendly staff. Breakfast is good too. My only complain has to do with the matress. They are a bit old and starting to deteriorate.

Our stay was really nice and I would really recommend this place to anyone. The room was reasonably clean, with a wash basin. Really clean toilets with soap and paper towels. Showers would do with some fixing, as they were leaking and hooks for towels were broken. The staff was very friendly and spoke basic English. The breakfast was surprisingly good: not only jam, honey and nutella with baguettes, but (on alternating days) yogurt, brie, goats cheese, cheese, etc. There is a self catering kitchen with some pots and plates, you need to bring your own cutlery and cups. Indeed, they have a policy of closing the hostel during the day. You need to leave the room till 10:00am and leave the hostel till 11:00am. You can come back at 3pm. This applies even if you stay more than one night. But once you know it, you can plan around it really. The only appalling feature there are terribly dirty windows. Overall, compared to an average hostel standard, this hostel is really a decent place.

No working toilet and shower in the room. Had to use the common showers and toilets on the same floor. There was an awfull smell in the room, coming from the shower sink which was out of order. The breakfast was very good and the location is also good.

Only one key per room that has to be left at the receptionist desk when you leave the room is ridiculous. There are no lockers and I did not feel my belongings were safe. Closed from 11am to 3pm every single day so you can forget about sleeping in after a long journey. 'Breakfast' consists of a bit of bread and a cup of tea/coffee. Privacy is very bad, with communal showers/toilets and shared bedrooms with total strangers. I had to pay 10 euros extra to move to room which was empty. Staff will speak English if you speak to them in English even though they say they can't. Well located in the center of the city, but I do wish I'd paid a little more to stay in a proper hotel.

Room is clean and spacious but security and convenience is a joke because they only have 1 key per room so if you want to shower for example and there's no one else in the room, you'll have to give back your room key to the reception. Or you might come back from the bathroom and found the room locked because your roomate has gone out. Also they have the ridiculous rule of getting out of the hostel by 10 and no entry till 3/4pm even if u stay multiple nights. The hostel is also closed between 1-3/4pm. And close means close, no entry, no luggage storage. And luggage storage after check out cost money.

By far the worst hostel I have ever stayed in. Rude staff, expensive room, tatty rooms. I have staying in many hostels all across Europe (14 countries) and have never experienced anything like this. We stayed one night and then left the following morning. Fortunately, we were refunded our money. Managed to find a hotel that was only 50% more in terms of cost for a very nice room in good location. Again; worst hostel I have ever experienced!

The mattresses were foam & needed to be replaced; mine was falling apart when I made the bed. When my party arrived, there weren't any clean pillow cases. Most urgent problem was that the bathroom smelled- because the door was always open the entire floor smelled like the bathroom.

I was locked out of the hostel between 11am and 3pm with no way of retrieving my luggage and missed my Eurostar as a result. Although there was an A4 notice stating this on the front door - something I failed to take in due to being exceptionally tired on arrival - I cannot understand the reason for locking people out of the hostel. Everywhere I else I stayed on this trip had 24 hour reception. Lille is stuck in the dark ages!
