Open from late May until mid-August, Lahden Kansanopisto is located in the town of Lahti, in the south of Finland, with good transport connections everywhere. The hostel is only a stone’s throw from the town centre, just 300 metres (300 yards) from the railway station and 400 metres (400 yards) from the market place.
Built in the early 20th century in Art Nouveau style, the building has retained its original exterior and it is visible from far away. In the attractive garden you will instantly forget the busy everyday life and the garden thus offers an excellent setting for complete relaxation.
Lahti is known for various events and it is undoubtedly the centre of the Finnish sporting scene. Its best known landmarks are the ski jumping towers that can be visited also outside the winter season. Jump onboard one of the local cruise ships and enjoy the beautiful Finnish lake scenery. Those interested in culture can take advantage of the various museums, galleries, concerts and theatre plays the town has to offer. The most impressive cultural venue is the Sibelius Hall Congress and Concert Centre.
Lahden Kansanopisto is close to all this. You will stay in bright and spacious rooms for 1-4 people or in a shared room. Some of the rooms have their own toilet and shower. Accommodation rates include bed linen and breakfast. Every floor has its own well-equipped kitchen. Guests also have the possibility to do their laundry and use the free WiFi.
