“HI - ONKEL.INN 1886" A place for young people run by young people, much more than a hostel, it is a guest and friend house, a "cool" place for "cool" people.
“ONKEL.INN” is a safe place, with a new infrastructure, located in a refurbished house dated in 1886. It belongs to the Hostelling International network. It is located in the most central area of town, in 257 Colombia Street, between Plaza de San Pedro and Paseo del Prado.
Being in the heart of town, it is a central base in the tourist circuit, near the Colonial Town and Indians neighbourhoods (Illampu and Sagárnaga Streets, Witches Market and the Church of San Francisco), near the official town around Plaza Murillo, (State Powers, Historic Museums, Art Museums and near the mystic Jaén Street). Next to the old Paseo del Prado, invaded by the modern town skyscrapers and by the nightlife area in the nearby neighbourhoods (Sopocachi and some others), the best nightlife area for all tastes and expectations, Pubs, Cafés, Clubs, the new Bolivian cinema and other cultural spots of the contemporary life of the city of La Paz, squares and parks, Urbano Central Park, with a jogging and cycling trail.
By staying in ONKEL.INN 1886, you will not only be in a resting place, but also you will enjoy comfortable and bright rooms, clean and disinfected bathrooms, an oper air jacuzzi in the terrace, a staircase called “U Boot” with an exit to a footbridge over the roof, where you can watch the unique view of the hillsides, which provides an identity to the city natural and cultural landscape. You will also be able to see the San Pedro´s Church front, among the Plaza trees´ tops. A spot to watch nature and architectural evidence, such as the Recoleta Church Gothic Towers in the heart of the modern city.
You will also be able to enjoy some delighful night time at the Onkel´s Pub Happy Hour, before heading for a fun place. A great tourist potential.

| The breakfast was unbelievable poor. It would be better to do not include it in the the night package. They did not have milk, and the bread was from days ago. | ||

| No comments about the private matrimonial room. Terrible. I would recommend to my worst enemy. | ||

| Please improve the breakfast. The breakfast is horrible! Mixing the jam with water is a shame! Also provide fresh bread of otherwise don't serve breakfast!
If you book a double room here it is the same as sleeping in a doorm because there is no wall between the double room and doorms. | ||

| Pub crawl organised were not as described : entrance at Pacha club sold for a nothing special club... No value for money. Meeting point not clearly defined. Not as described as well. Sad since team is really nice. Would need a bit more professionalism. | ||

| They could have better showers (by gas and not electric), because La paz is very cold and with eletric showers the water doesn´t get very hot. | ||

| saggy mattresses hard on our backs. breakfasts good, staff nice, liked the security. Some guests noisy. Few regulations or information posted to help guests know services and rules. | ||

| I had a good experience, the staff was attentive and helpful with my questions. Also it was open 24/7. | ||

| The staff were extremely rude and we had to argue with them to get our 10% discount because we were HI members. They were never there to let anyone in, so we waited forever to get into the building and then through the door to our room. The breakfast was extremely bad, hardly any for an advertsied ¨buffet¨ and one morning i had to prepare it myself as the staff was nowhere to be seen. it advertsied a jaccuzzi which had no water in it and was way overpriced. | ||

| The manager, Zadin, was absolutely fantastic. His personal attention to detail and our stay was brilliant. He made 3 gringo´s feel welcome and very comfortable. Certainly one of the best things about this property. So good in fact we stayed again on our return from the Amazon!! | ||

| I had many black hairs in the shower of my single room. When I changed to
a dorm the next day, again my fresh bed was full
of
black
hairs. I changed the room
at 11.00
am
and at 8pm the staff told
me that I have to
pay the fee for the single
room for the second night as well. During breakfast the bred was alwas empty and when someone came
to
refill it, she only put
3-4. slices inside. | ||
