Kongsberg is the Silver and Skiing Town! It was built on silver mining from 1624, and is surrounded by hills and mountains. Many cultural monuments originating from its wealthy silver mining period. The Numedalslågen River, with its impressive waterfalls, ﬂows through the town centre, and the surrounding countryside is a joy to explore - summer as winter. The town’s character reﬂects its mining culture and skiing history, which can also be experienced in the Silver Mines, the museums and the magniﬁcent baroque church towering near the youth hostel. 18-holes golf facilities just outside town.
