Fairy Knowe Backpackers Lodge is well positioned, with Wilderness being at the pivot of all that can be enjoyed on the Garden Route. The many adventure attractions of Wilderness are on the doorstep: from amazing hiking trails, to endless beach walks and stunning canoe trips through the Wilderness National Park to the waterfalls.

The Backpackers Lodge is set on the Touw River, overlooking the Wilderness National Park Lakes. The old Victorian homestead, built in 1874 is equipped with all of the necessary modern conveniences in a secure beautiful setting, nestled beneath a Milkwood Forest.

Looking for an African Adventure or Simple Solitude, this piece of paradise has it all!

Directions

Bus:Wilderness is the midway point of the Garden Route and Fairy Knowe Backpackers Lodge is a door to door drop-off point for Baz Bus travellers. The major bus liners along the Garden Route stop in George, where you can then travel 15km by taxi to Wilderness and the Fairy Knowe Backpackers.
Parking:Free and safe parking is available on our property for all guests.
Location:The hostel is located2km from Wildnerness village along the Touw river. We are situated in the center of Wilderness National Park.
Airport:Those traveling by air can fly into George Airport, a short 15km away. Drive East along the N2 towards Port Elizabeth. Take the first left once you reach Wilderness through Wilderness village. Travel 2km along Waterside Rd. Our backpackers is on the right.

Been staying at hostels for many years. The mattress I tried to sleep on was the worst ever. Tops the previous worst night in Bangkok years ago. Building was fairly run down. Other rooms in adjacent buildings seemed more up to date.
