This modern, centrally located youth hostel has been totally renovated in recent years. Groups, individual travellers and families of all ages are welcomed by our young, committed team.
Our kitchen offers a variety of food all through the day and special meals can be arranged (special diet, vegan etc). We have 9 conference rooms with multimedia equipment (flip charts, beamer etc.).
Our cafeteria is open everyday, here you’ll find a wide selection of snacks and drinks. Our facilities include TV lounge, table tennis, pool table, tabletop football, computer with Internet access, children’s play area, board games, and in summer a garden with chairs and grill area! We also cater for family and corporate parties with special buffets or set meals.
Located close to the city centre and next to the "Tannenwäldchen" Park with its wide lawns and playgrounds, Kassel Youth Hostel is an ideal base for a visit to Kassel. We have10 different packages with exciting programmes for schools and other groups as well as attractive family offers. The hostel is a popular conference and training centre and due to its central location offers easy access to shopping in the city’s pedestrian area.
Kassel, an important economic centre in the north of the regional state of Hesse dating back 1000 years, has a lot of attractions: Wilhelmshöhe Castle in Europe’s largest mountain park, the statue of Hercules, the ruins of Löwenburg Castle and the very impressive fountains as well as a variety of museums (collections of paintings, Hesse State Museum, Museum of Sepulchral Culture, German Wallpaper Museum, Brothers-Grimm-Museum, Museum of Nature Studies, Planetarium etc.) plus theatre, casino, cabaret, revue theatre, steamboat tours, thermal spa, golf course, ice skating hall and large recreation areas with swimming lakes close-by. Every year there is a very attractive fairy tale Christmas market in the city centre. In summer there are countless open-air events such as the “Stadtfest” (city festival), the water festival, open-air cinema and concerts in the mountain park and the “Kulturzelt” (culture tent) and of course every 5 years the “Documenta”, the world’s most important art exhibition, takes place in Kassel (June 16th. – September 23rd 2007). | Parking: | Limited parking, no reservation possible. More parking spaces in the neighbouring residential area. |
| Location: | Kassel, located in the very centre of Germany, has easy access to the motorway network (A7/A49/A44) and fast train links (IC, ICE). Many attractions and entertainment facilities are within walking distance or can be easily reached by public transport. Next to the hostel there is a large green space, the "Tannenwäldchen" with lawns, fitness and jogging trails and playgrounds. |
| Rail: | ICE-/IC-train station Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe – regular bus and tramway links (#4 or #7 towards city centre, get off at stop "Annastraße", from there 10 min walk). Kassel Hauptbahnhof (central station, regional trains) - bus #10 or #52, get off at stop "Achenbachstraße", from there 3 min walk. Alternatively you can easily walk from Hauptbahnhof to the YH.. It only takes 15 min. |
