The city of Essen on the southern edge of the Ruhr Valley is European Capital of Culture 2010! It’s a great destination for relaxation and action alike with a wide range of entertainment on offer. The transformation from an industrial city to a centre of culture and arts is palpable everywhere you go!
The youth hostel in Essen-Werden is a great base for exploring art, culture and the industrial history of the Ruhr Valley. The location is also great for discovering the city’s rich offerings and escapes to the countryside. The hostel was modernized in 2008 and all our comfortable rooms have en suite shower/WC. The hostel’s friendly, relaxed atmosphere makes it ideal for schools and other groups as well as families. It is perfect for conferences and excursions.
