A great location from which for tackling Helvellyn from steep climbs to gentle rambles, there are plenty of walks to suit most abilities. An ideal base for families, couples and groups to enjoy the hills or Ullswater. A mile from Glenridding, the nearest village, the hostel is 900ft above sea level and you can hike up Hellvellyn from here or take a gentler walk around Ullswater. Don’t miss the spectacular 60ft Aira Force waterfall on Gowbarrow Fell.

Meals and drinks are available in our licensed restaurant. Facilities include, self-catering kitchen, games room, lounge and BBQ areas.

the kitchen and fridge and floors were an absolute disgrace and filthy unable to use the kitchen to cook food due to unhygienic situation. poor design of the building.
