Hostel Academica, Helsinki is located in the city center! All rooms are with private facilities and with a small kitchenette with refrigerator. Morning sauna and swimming are free of charge! All the rooms have a private toilet, shower and kitchenette with a refrigerator in the room. Kitchen equipment is available. Bed linen and towel are included in the room price. There is a possibility for internet connection in some of the rooms.

LOCATION is central; hostel is situated close to the beautiful Hietaniemi beach, Kamppi shopping mall, restaurants and sightseeing attractions. Tram and bus stops are around the corner, while the metro, train and bus stations are only a short walk away.

HOSTEL DOMUS ACADEMICA is the first known Finnish accommodation establishment to have extensively calculated the carbon footprint of its operations. Hostel Domus Academica also compensates for the emissions caused by running the hostel. In 2012 the compensation was carried out by directing the funds towards a wind power project in Mare Manastir, Turkey.

| Overall the hostel was good, very clean and tidy. The staff were friendly, but it took a very long time to check in, and then when you leave the hostel to go out for the day you have to leave your key at reception, which is just complicated process. Then reception lost my key, so I had to be let in and out by staff whenever I wanted to leave my room. Other than the key system, a reasonable hostel. | ||

| very bleak, bathroom looked and smelled like someone took a show just before we checked in. Mattressed poor and room bleak and bland looking. Kitchen utensils drawer and the little dishes avaiable appeared barely washed. I would not recommend. Stockholm Hostel and Helsinki Soumenlinna had it all over this place. | ||
