Staying in Whistler is about to get a whole lot more affordable. Opened in July 2010, the new HI-Whistler is a purpose-built, modern hostel with all the amenities you'd expect and more. The 180-bed hostel will be Whistler's biggest, offering budget accommodation in shared and private rooms in a brand new neighbourhood just minutes from the ski slopes.
Before the Whistler hostel opened on July 1, 2010, the hostel filled an important role as part of Whistler's athletes' village for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. So who knows, this could be the closest you get to sharing a room with an Olympic gold medalist.
There's more to this hostel in Whistler than just a place to sleep. Cheaky's Cafe is in the hostel lobby. We serve Coffee and snacks as well as meals, beer, cider, coolers and wine, who knows who you could meet!Hang out on the outdoor decks with mountain views, store your bike, skis, and boards in the equipment storage room, relax in the media room with its 52" HDTV and meet some cool new folks over a free game of pool or in the lounge.
The Whistler hostel offers: Two floors of dorms with ensuite bathrooms * 14 private ensuite rooms * Family-friendly rooms * On-site café with outdoor patio * Theatre-style meeting room (seats 60) * TV lounge and large games room * Self-catering kitchen with dining room * Outdoor patio and BBQ deck with mountain views * State-of-the-art ski/snowboard/bike storage * A beauty of a fireplace

| Good hostel, nice staff. Cleanly rooms and comfortable beds. Noise from drunk people coming back to the hostel disturbed us during the night (Saturday night). We were unfortunate and got a difficult room-mate, but that could happen anywhere. | ||

| Breakfast option is only coffee & bagel or english muffin. Cleaners only do an average job except when it comes to stealing the recycling cans/bottles from the room. Security is ok but food items go missing from the fridge too often. Hostel response: | ||

| Being new and a former athlete's village it's 4star as far as hostels go, but it is a bit clinical too like the video room and eating space and the cafe is a bit pricey for a hostel (normal cafe prices). | ||

| HI Whistler is a fantastic new building and felt more like a hotel than a hostel. The kitchen was spotless and the rooms and bathrooms were cleaned everyday. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would love to go back to Whistler and would definitely stay at the HI. | ||
