Although the hostel was run very well and the staff were friendly I felt that the price for the private room was too high. I found a B&B right around the corner for the same price and It included breakfast and a more comfortable bed.

Very friendly staff and a personalised service in the heart of St Johns near super market, little coffee shop/ cafe and free wifi access. Prices in St Johns generally are very high relatively speaking, so hostel is the same but as the area has to rely on the tourist season for income this is understandable. Place is clean, although during busy periods over-booked given that other hostels in the city are not authorised and some travellers had to 'rescued' from them. Definitely the best budget option in town, offering personalised whale watching and other trips.

The bathrooms smell bad, specially the one downstairs. Also, there're only 2 bathrooms for the entire hostel-not enough. But the location is great.
