Hostel Details
In 1937 Frank and Josephine Duveneck opened the West's first hostel at their 1600-acre ranch in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains in Los Altos Hills. Hostelling International-Hidden Villa is on a working farm, with animals, organic gardens, historic buildings, oak-studded grasslands, and Adobe Creek's woodland watershed.
There are more than seven miles of trails for guests to roam in the hills behind the hostel. San Francisco, San Jose, Stanford University, and the towns of "Silicon Valley" are all close by. During the summer, Hidden Villa serves as multicultural camp for children (the hostel is closed during this period). Our brand new main hostel building and bathrooms were built as sustainable structures. We still have our original rustic dorms and private cabins that are separate from the main building.
