there's no stove in the kitchen in the Monterey hostel facility. We hope there will be a stove in the future. Please mention 10% tax & $3 membershp fee when we reserve the hostel.

Don't buy PBR(Pap's Blue Ribbon) at Sly McFly's you'll get wine. Don't buy PBR at liquor stores here you'll be scolded.

Staff was courteous but a bit aloof. I love the location of the hostel, as well as the size of the facilities (kitchen space, common room, plenty of bathrooms, etc). The only thing that made me a bit uncomfortable was the number of middle to old aged people more or less 'living' there. I realize this is not a youth hostel, but I do expect a hostel to cater more to travelers and not desperately lonely people who make awkward conversation. Out of the 15-17 people I saw, at least a dozen were over 40 with most of them being much older. Just didn't give an otherwise great hostel a good vibe.

I had recent knee replacement, requested lower bunk at time of reservation. received email confirming. when i arrived, no lower bunks were available in mens dorm as i requested. fortunately there were some in mixed dorm. staff said everything is first come first serve. wasn't informed of this at time of reservation.

our 2nd or 3rd stay. Again a good time. When budget is tight this makes for a great stay-cation getaway. Wifi is dodgy at times. WRT54G wifi router is a dinosaur. :)
