Hostel Details

This New England farmhouse is just a few steps from the White Mountains National Forest. Over 750,000 acres of forests, rivers, mountains, and waterfalls provide a natural playground for climbers, skiers, canoeists, cyclists, and hikers alike. Recreational activities abound year-round with mountain biking in the summer, cross-country and downhill skiing in the winter, watching for moose in the spring, and viewing the kaleidoscopic foliage in the fall. The hundreds of miles of trails offer year-round hiking. Bike and canoe rentals are available near the hostel.

HI - White Mountains is located in the Mt. Washington Valley, an area that also attracts antique/bargain hunters with its tax-free outlet shops. The valley is named after the highest peak in the Northeast, Mt. Washington. First climbed in 1642, the mountain has a road for those not wanting to take on the eight-hour climb. Low-cost educational and adventure packages for groups are available.

Washington Valley attractions as well as bus transportation, it has been operating as a hostel since 1994. It has an attached carriage house which has three, one bedroom apartments which are all currently rented. The White Mountain National Forrest and the Mt. Washington Valley is a destination location and has always been a favorite spot for year round recreation, it is located within a 2.5 hour drive from Boston and approximately 6-7 hour drive form NYC.
