In an excellent location in a quiet street right in the centre of Gent, the hostel is just 150m from the famous medieval Castle of the Counts. Retaining a period façade, it offers a high standard of accommodation with 27 rooms all with private bathrooms. Facilities include TV, internet access (Hotspot), bar, and self-service restaurant.
The hostel's bar with a great choice of Belgian beers may be the perfect starting point to discover this Artevelde city with 55.000 students. There is always something to do. Museums like the S.M.A.K. museum (modern art), Design museum or Gravensteen Castle, pubs, shops, restaurants, theaters ... are all within walking distance. Or visit the Sint-Baafs cathedral with the world famous Lam Gods painting. Although the hostel is only open until 11pm, guests have 24h/24h acces, NO LOCKOUT NO CURFEW.

| We were there during winter season, and unluckily the heater wasn't working, we had a cold night to sleep through although we were provided with blanket. Breakfast offered limited choice of food. | ||

| I liked my stay at De Draecke. Really good location in the centre of Ghent. The only minor thing I find is that the internet is soo expensive. | ||

| I really enjoyed the staff: friendly, alive, open-minded, and intelligent. The rooms were basic and a little too institutional, but were just fine. The location was perfect for walking access downtown. | ||

| Great place. The staff is friendly, the hostel is very well placed and the breakfast is good.
There is a deposit of 5 euros that you lost if you leave the hostel after 10 am. | ||

| i got a room to myself because they sold my bed to someone else that phoned on the same day. staff were helpful but were sometimes too busy sitting on the computer at the back of reception to know you were there waiting! load of kids slamming door and being noisy when i was there... not impressed. | ||
