The district capital of Friedrichshafen is the most important trade, administrative and industrial centre if the Lake Constance/Upper Swabia region.
Friedrichshafen is a fairly new town, only founded in 1811, and became world famous as the birthplace of the zeppelin. The School Museum and the Museum for Technology and Art are well worth a visit, the latter housing the largest collection related to aeronautics in the world and one of the most important art collections in Southwest Germany. The youth hostel is located on the eastern edge of town (towards Lindau) at the Rotach Bridge, just 100m from Lake Constance.

Customer Reviews Friedrichshafen

| Really far out of Friedrichshafen - a VERY long walk from the harbour, especially for anyone with a backpack. Secure with lockers and keys etc so felt safe. Very clean. Fairly friendly, much more of a family hostel, not somewhere with lots of backpackers/young people. Made it a little difficult - we arrived at 9pm and discovered we were sharing a room with a young child who was already asleep, so not at all ideal for settling in or coming back after an evening meal. | ||

| The staff are very nice and the place is very clean and quite. The only problem is that the private room for 4 persons is two small. | ||
