The town of Frederiksværk was originally known for gunpowder and cannon-balls. Remains of ancient times can be seen in this lively town at the open-air powder mill museum and the Gjethuset, the former cannon casting house which has been renovated as a tourist and culture centre. Frederiksværk lies between the Arresø lake and the Roskilde Fjord close to the north coast. You feel encouraged to explore the beautiful surrounding country alone or accompanied by a local guide.
