If you're planning to have a sun and beach holiday in the Algarve, then Faro Youth Hostel is definitely a great choice. You can catch a boat to the islands which make up the Ria Formosa nature reserve. The reserve has an educational centre where you can see wildfowl, such as the sultana hen, or learn how the Portuguese water dog has been saved from extinction. The town of Faro itself is an interesting place, due to its historic heritage and its liveliness, very much related to the constant arrival of tourists from all corners of the world. You may even get a chance to speak your own language.

| A bit chilly at night in January (!) but there were plenty of blankets. Staff their usual friendly, helpful selves. Good breakfast. Plenty of showers, with good hot water. No doubt I shall be back! | ||

| Peak summer season there are few places available last minute in the Algarve, however Faro managed to find some room, although 2011 was very busy, hot and mosquito riddled (the hostel backs onto a park). Although a big city it had its charms and a lot of things to do! Faro became my base from which to tour the Algarve. The staff are AMAZINGLY helpful even when harassed by the shear number of people and questions put to them!! | ||

| A good basic hostel, with friendly staff and good breakfast. My second stay, and I would go there again. | ||

| It's a simple hostel, but the price is very low, so no complaints | ||

| This hostel needs upgrading. Only one key per room made security poor and was awkward. Kitchen is the size of a toilet, microwave only. Six in a small room with one very small window was stifling...and no aircon. Wifi not working and staff had no idea when it would be fixed.
Breakfast is served too late, at 0830, for those travelling that day.
Positives? The roof space is really good, providing shade would improve it. Showers are good, and there is a lovely park behind the hostel, complete with peacocks. The birds make sleeping in impossible with their raucous calls. | ||

| dirty and dusty rooms, bunk beds without bars (i almost fell down), sultry nights with no air conditioning or ventulators, not enought lockers, dirty common-kitchen and restrooms, poor breakfast... | ||

| 駅やバスターミナルからはかなり歩きます。道路側の部屋は、開け放して寝るととてもやかましいです。ファロは、朝から夜中まで頻繁に頭の上を飛行機が発着するので。小さな街中全体が大きな音で満たされます。 | ||
