This converted barn and farmhouse is situated in the peaceful village of Elterwater. Outdoor activities are available for all levels plus easy access to the Cumbria Way, road and mountain biking trails and crags for rock climbing. Or simply enjoy the fresh air, countryside and gentle river walks.
Explore some of Lakeland’s most dramatic scenery from the hostel, including Little and Great Langdale. Home-cooked food is available in our licensed restaurant. Accommodation is in 2-6 bedded rooms and facilities include cycle store, self-catering kitchen and evening meals.

| Need to emphasise that it was actually LANGDALE HIGH CLOSE I was staying in, not Elterwater which had staffing problems.
Marvellous views over the countryside from my bed in room 11, and very handy for walks on the fells. Hostel seems to need a little TLC (e.g. hole in floor in front of one of the toilets).
I felt a little awkward when I was there, as a primary school group had taken over and when I got up to go to bed after being surrounded by them (still being noisy at 10.30)their teacher told them off for upsetting other guests, which I found quite embarrassing. Groups do occasionally need to remember my mother's phrase 'There are others!'; however, I think these children were just excited and it was nice to see how much they seemed to be enjoying themsleves at the hostel.
