Excellent accommodation in the heart of the city. Edinburgh Metro is located next to the famous Royal Mile, it provides a great base for exploring Scotland’s vibrant capital. All accommodation is in single rooms, with all night access and excellent self catering facilities. Low prices and an international friendly atmosphere make this a popular choice for festival-goers.
Edinburgh University's halls of residence on the Cowgate become SYHA Edinburgh Metro again for almost two month this summer. Located only minutes from the famous Royal Mile, historic Grassmarket, the Scottish Parliament and all the Edinburgh Festival action. The buzzing local nightlife is right on the doorstep and this part of town really comes alive during the Festival with many terrific venues just around the corner. All accommodation is in single rooms only.
You might share the flat, but your privacy is guaranteed as all rooms are individually lockable (£10 key deposit required).
Private apartments comprising of 4, 5 or 6 rooms with kitchen and bathroom are now available to book.
Bedding is included and a take away breakfast (£4.25) is available. There are also laundry facilities (during day times only) and a bike shed available for you. Check-In is from 4pm. We have no curfew; there is a 24-hour access for you to enjoy the City. Please note that access to all rooms are through stairs only - a lift is not available.
We look forward to welcoming you to SYHA Edinburgh Metro.

| A nice place to stay, especially if you go during the festival.
The place is really good located, close to most of the attractions and venues. | ||

| Almost impossible to find this location at night! no sign at all!!! I asked 5 police officers on Cowgate, they don't even know this location!! Useless to call the property, can't give useful directions | ||

| dirty sheets, no towel provided (without extra £2 deposit), no breakfast provided (again without paying more money), No soap in the bathrooms, extremely unhygienic for all purposes. Very early check out time and late check in time. Overall for the amount of money paid for the 2 nights we stayed I feel that it was the worst quality and most expensive hostel I have ever stayed in. I appreciate that it is student accommodation and there is only so much they can provide in each kitchen, but considering the average student would pay around £100-150 a week for that style accommodation, we paid more than that for a service and got pretty much the exact same facilities that a student would receive on arriving at the accommodation. Overall a very poor experience and considering your standard of hostel in the US and price scheme I was very disappointed and I would not stay there again or recommend it. | ||

| Nice place, with a very private feel, which can be a pro and a con. For the amount of money though, it wasn't quite worth it to me. | ||

| I loved the individual rooms. It was great not having to deal with other people for a few days! | ||

| I would definitely stay at your hostel again. I absolutely enjoyed the extra privacy due to all the rooms having a private en suite. I enjoyed my walk on the Royal Mile. The location is fantastic. It was one of the highlights of my stay in Scotland. | ||

| It was very hard to find and I walked for over an hour trying to find it. the Arrows on teh Cowgate side should have had the YHA logo as there are any number of hostels in the area adn YHA is known and distinctive. I feel that there should be recycling facilities in every kitchen so that we could sort on site for staff to then dispose of in an orderly anner. I think that you should check with YHA in New zealand for their recycling efforts | ||
