A remote tranquil hostel surrounded by beautiful hills. Just 30 minutes from Manchester, but miles away from anywhere. Ideal for that little bit of peace you’ve been looking for and a good overnight stop if you’re walking the Pennine Way.

Next to the tumbling waters of Crowden Brook, this is the perfect spot for exploring the surrounding high plateaus and moors. With catering on site, this superb activity centre is the ideal place to refuel and re-energise, especially if you’re here for a stopover while tackling the nearby Pennine Way. Good for a longer break too.

Your appalling spelling of the word experience below completely distracts me from the hostel experience. Perhaps somebody could take the trouble to correctly position the "i" since doubtless this survey is being automatically mailed to countless guests. Fortunately, attention to detail seemed far more important to the staff at Crowden. It was particularly kind of them to check us in over an hour before they were due to open reception.

I was dead tired from long hike on Pennine Way--they thoughtfully gave me an available single (though I had only reserved a dorm bed) so I could sleep in full peace. THANK YOU! I didn't miss not having a full kitchen to use, but perhaps others would miss this. There was a microwave and fridge and use of dishes. They serve food/beer/wine from their kitchen.
