A lakeside vacation here is a wonderful experience that's hard to forget. There are also lots of other things to see: besides stunning Lake Como, which can be crossed to the other side by frequent erries, there is the beautiful art and the shopping in nearby towns - all easily reachable. Travel to a town where it's possible to buy silk at a discount, for instance. The list of activities here is so long that there's no chance of being bored in Como, the commercial crossroads between Europe and Italy. There's also a bit of folklore that takes place each June when the evocative Medieval Palio is held.
