You don't have to be a graduate to visit Coimbra and get to know the students' city, as it is called. Have a walk around the city and take in the atmosphere of academic traditions, noticing the many student residences (repúblicas), the torn academic gowns and the ancient university. Who knows, maybe one day you'll end up studying here! If you enjoy canoeing, then don't miss this opportunity to paddle in the Mondego waters. But if you are into more alternative sports, then Serra da Lousã is the place to practise everything related to mountaineering and adventure. Oh, and don't forget: there are academic parties all year round, with few interruptions.

| I think it was one of the worse hostel I've stayed in, the place was really not a fun place to stay, they have a kitchen with nothing in it... I ate my food with a spoon and knife, there was no fork, no real plat. You have to pay for the wifi, but they give you a free hour! The breakfast was good, and the staff were nice. | ||

| The dorms are rather poor equipped, no hooks or cupboards to hang your things - except for the single room.
Light is poor, you cannot read in the bed in the dorms.
A self service kitchen would be nice, as you see it in hostels in other countries.
A common room where you can sit reading, talking, watching tv etc. would be preferable.
I had problem with bedbugs(?). After a week's stay I looked like a spotted Dalmatian when I left the hostel, though with me the spots were reddish blue. Every night I got new bites.
But I may be the only one that had the problem?? - It stopped after I left the hostel.

| fine for a base but little atmosphere. would have liked a key each instead of one key for a 6 bed dorm | ||

| We enjoyed our two day stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room had an amazing view across the city. The showers and toilets were good and the place felt cared for The dining room was very welcoming and we enjoyed the breakfast.
The one thing that lets the hostel down is the members kitchen which is in the basement with no natural light and so badly equipped that it would be very difficult to prepare a meal or even make a drink. Even if this was possible the basement area was not be somewhere that we would have wanted to sit and eat in.
