Customer Reviews YHA Cambridge

| The hostel was conveniently located basically beside the train station and a short walk from the city center. Upon check-in, the staff was very distracted and didn't apply the HI membership discount to my stay after supplying them with my card.. and then asking about it which was rather annoying. | ||

| Came to Cambridge not knowing what to do. We came during their easter holiday, so the town was practically dead. The facility is rather old, but comfortable. Had breakfast which I thought was okay. Staff was beyond friendly.
Had lunch at Cambridge Blue, which I would totally recommend. Its a hidden gem and seems like locals go there. Tons of beet on tap and delicious food.

| only one aspect should be improved: slamming of the doors of the nearby toilets or rooms. The doors have been correctly equipped with springs to slow down the shutting but it is not enough; maybe an explicit invitation to accompany the door during the closure could help. | ||

| I show my YHA membership card, but the reception refused to give me early promised discout again. Last time, they refused with an explanation of my booking through booking.com, but this time I booked through the its web.
The heat in the room is not working, it's freezing at a night I stay, very unpleasant stay. Hostel response:

| The hostel is basically fine, but disappointing in some respects. The ensuite bathroom in my room was old and rundown with one of the most cramped shower stalls I've ever seen. Also, the toilet seat was broken when I arrived. I spoke to the desk person about it, and she immediately checked it out. She said she'd make sure a new seat was ordered. I asked about moving to another room, but she said if I moved up one floor, the shower probably wouldn't have very hot water. Two days later, the toilet seat was replaced. The hostel is reasonably close to the train station, but it's quite a hike to get to the area of the Colleges. There's no free breakfast or free wifi. | ||
