Three tours are offered to discover Cadouin and its abbey: “la boucle des pèlerins”, “la balade patrimoine” or “le sentier des paysages”.
La boucle des pèlerins
Short 5 km walk between fields, forest and hamlet which will reveal the natural heritage of Bessède. This walk, for children and adults, has small terminals that will give you information on the toponymy, the natural resources used by the monks and the forest wood species.
Le sentier des paysages
This path will enable you to discover the landscape evolution, from the site selection by the monks more than 800 years ago, to the 21th century contemporary landscape. Audioguides available. Children will particularly like the monks' game.
La balade patrimoine
This walk of about an hour is about Cadouin’s turbulent history: from the foundation of the monastery in the 12th century to the brutal end of the pilgrimage in the 20th century. You will discover that the history of the village and residents is linked with the history of the abbey.
