This HI turned out to be a nightmare for me. Begin with the all night smoking party in the courtyard that drifted into the entire establishment. Yet, management seemed to think all was fine (when they knew it was not) ´because they are smoking in the courtyard. No Internet Service when I arrived ('it will be back on tomorrow'); a nice property gone very bad for several other reasons I won´t dignify by even writing about them. Had I not had a remarkable 3 weeks in Calgary´s HI, I would never go to a HI ever again due to this stay. Pick another hostel in this city, a different HI.

O elevador estava quebrado e a escada é grande!

I really enjoyed staying in this hostel. A great location for walking around Palermo and Recoleta and el Centro. The staff was super cool, very fun to chat with (if you speak spanish). The big dorm for girls is nice enough, the bathrooms are less than desirable. The smaller rooms for four people have better bathrooms, but the bedrooms themselves are cramped. But for the location, who can beat it? The breakfast is also not good... I would recommend budgeting to go grab a cafe somewhere else.

I stayed here two nights. For the amount I paid, I am perfectly happy with what I got. I am not put off by a bit of street noise (if you get back to your hostal sober enough to be bothered by street noise, you're doing it wrong). I didn't try the breakfast since I wasn't on a tight budget and a cortado y medias lunas is never far from you in Buenos Aires. There is a metal locker in the lobby, which you provide a padlock for, but no storage in the dorm room I was in. I put my valuables in the locker and decided not to worry about the other stuff. If you like everything to look "nice" and new and polished, you might consider looking at other alternatives, since the hostal is in a very old building. They offer a service of about $120 pesos to Ezeiza, which is cheaper than most other alternatives. The staff were friendly and helpful, and (at least when I was there) the friendly owner was around too.

I was supposed to stay for 4 nights at the HI Recoleta Hostel, but only stayed for the first one as the room, bathroom and the entire hostel was very uncomfort and not clean at all. I did not even wanted to stay for the first night, but the attendent Lucas refused to return the payment I had just made (about ten minutes earlier I said I decided not to stay anymore - that's when he showed my room to me). Thanks.

Very friendly people, but I had money at my private room that in the cleaning day, and a great amount just disappered! And the staff could do anything about it, and there was no locker in the room! So, what should you do? At the police office, they said to me it was a shame and that´s it! I use hostels since almost 10 years and I never had a problem like that, I don´t recommend this hostel because of security. Things like that can make you upset and steal the peace of your trip.
