Brumund Vandrerhjem is one of a kind! The hostel is the only Norwegian approved treetop huts. The hostel is built in the woods of Brumunddal, called The Pine Hut and The Larch Hut The Pine Hut is rented out as private room for 5 persons, and The Larch Hut is rented out as a private room for 6 persons.
From the cabins you can listen to the birds sing, and if you are lucky you might even spot an elk from the porch. Both cabins have great surroundings for those who like the wilderness and activities as fishing, hiking, and nature watching. The distance between the cabins are considerable, so regular interactions between the cabins might be difficult.
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE CABINS ARE SELF-CATERED, and all guests have to bring their own bed linen, as well as food and drinking water. If 2 people or more book the cabin together, you get the cabin all to yourselves. The cabins can only be reached by own transportation (car, motor bike or bicycle).
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT YOUR STAY HAS TO BE FULLY PAID IN ADVANCE. After making the booking through the Hihostel online service, guests will be contacted by Hostelling International Norway for information about how to make the full payment. The cabin will be reserved for the following 5 (five) days. If a guest does not make the full payment within the 5 days limit, the booking will be cancelled. The deposit will not be returned.
NB! The cabins have different prices during weekdays and weekends.
The Pine Hut The Pine Hut is the original, rustic treetop hut, built in 2006. Located 8 meters above the ground, up in a 250 year old pine tree the cabin is rented out as a private room for 5 people.
The treetop hut has a small, full equipped kitchen with a gas stove and refrigerator. There is also a fireplace, wood and candles in the cabin. The cabin has 2 simple sofa-beds with 2 wide bunks on top. There are beds for 5 people, but it may be a bit crowed. Absolutely max people of staying in the cabin are 7 people!
On the ground under the cabin you will find shed where you find firewood and an outdoor toilet facility. There is no shower, but during the warmer seasons the lake, which is next to the cabin, temps with a refreshing morning bath!
From The Pine Hut you can enjoy a spectacular view towards the wood and the lake. The porch in front for the cabin has charming benches hidden under the branches from the pine trees.
THE TREETOP HUT, THE PINE HUT IS FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE COMFORTABLE WITH SIMPLE STANDARD, and does not mind for self-catering. Please be aware that you are responsible for cleaning the cabin after use. Brumund Vandrerhjem urge people to leave the cabin as you would like to find it yourself. Bird seeds are to be found in the cabin. We would appreciate if you filled the bird-cage when you arrive and leave. The check-in time is at 1600 hrs and check-out time is at 1400 hrs the following day.
Please be aware that you have to go through the toll-bar of NOK 50,- before arriving at the cabin.

| Location: | Brumund Vandrerhjem is an unique hostel, located in the woods of Brumunddal. The distance between the cabins is considerable, which might be a challenge if you are planning interactions between the two cabins. There are about 12 and 25 km to the town centre of Brumunddal from the cabins. The Larch Hut is closest to the town centre. We recommend guests at Brumund Vandrerhjem to have their own transportation, as a car, motorbike or regular bike. There is no public transportation to the cabins. Hostelling International Norway contacts all guests that have book an overnight stay at Brumund Vandrerhjem for further directions to the cabins. |

| Var en utrolig fantastisk opplevelse!! Våknet av tassende ekornføtter på morningen:) Storkoste oss. Skulle gjerne ha visst mer om hva slags utstyr som var der på forhånd, i forhold til hva vi kunne lagd av mat. Forventet mindre utstyr enn det var, så tok ikke med den middagen vi kunne lagd om vi visste at det var den type utstyr der. Kanskje det kunne stått på nettsiden?? Hytteboka var full, så den må dere bytte ut. Fikk dessverre ikke skrevet i den. Men er veldig fornøyd med både servicen, mailsvar og trehytta. Vi kommer garantert tilbake til våren!! | ||

| "Une expérience unique pour entrer en intimité avec les écureuils et de nombreuses espèces d´oiseaux à la cime d´un pin bicentenaire. Merveilleux poste également pour observer les élans à la tombée de jour et goûter au charme d´une veillée autour du feu dans les frondaisons."
"Une nuit pas comme les autres dans les calmes bruits de la forêt où seule la présence des animaux nous a accueillis, femelle élan, écureuils rivalisant autour des graines de tournesol de la mangeoire, couple de bouvreuils pivoine, grand pic à tête rouge et une multitude d'autres oiseaux. | Opplevelsen av hyttas beliggenhet og dyrene vil vi anbefale alle! Imidlertid var det slett renhold i hytta. Det var åpenbart at tidligere gjester ikke hadde gjort reint etter seg. Skinnfellene i sofaene var veldig bøssete og ekle, med stearing og søl på. Tepper, puter og madrasser veldig støvete og bak en pute fant vi to klesplagg noen hadde glemt. Hylla v/ovnen var støvete og stettglassene antakelig vasket opp i kaldt vann. Det fantes ikke plastkniver. Vi savnet også en stige opp til den bredeste overkøya. Vi har lyst på flere tretopp-overnattinger, kanskje i en av de andre hyttene også - men vil på det aller sterkeste anbefale hyppigere tilsyn med renholdet slik at man ikke trenger å sove i andres bøss. | ||

| Loved the stay. Magnificent view from the tree top, and friendly neighbors (birds and squirrels). Already recommended to my family. The payment procedure seems to have a potential for improvement, though. I'd like to pay the complete amount online, instead of the semi-manual phone based procedure. | ||

| Flott plassering, god ide, men 1500,- er for dyrt. Hytta har for lite komfort (mangel på vann, toalett og rent sengetøy) til å forsvare en slik pris. Vi trenger ikke mere komfort, men prisen burde vært lavere | ||

| This is most definitely a place for people who want a different experience, and don't mind less comfort.
The stay was perfect, lying in the bed watching the birds and squirrel eating and enjoying them self very early in the morning.
Grilling marshmallows on the terrace at night 8mtrs up in the air.
Is there anything better? I think not, and my children (2,4,8) totally agrees.. :)

| This is a very special experience for anyone. We had exellent weather, which made all the difference. To be closer to nature, you would have to sleep on ground by the fire. Low standard, but that's the whole point. Wonderful concept. | ||
