Great location for easy access to central city sites and events, helpful staff. Self catering kitchen in poor state both mornings, full rubbish bins and superficial cleaning.

The Room 409 had a smelly carpet-smelled like a wet dog and we had to leave the window open at all times - I was getting asthmatic just from breathing the bad air for about 10 minutes when someone shut the window when I was out of the room. The carpet needs to be removed.

Very friendly staff. Never been in a hostel before, but if all hostels are this quality we do not need hotels:)

I didn't like my dormitory, as the only windows were very high up, far out of reach, and couldn't be seen out of or opened. I was also far too hot and as a result the first night I tossed around all night, and kicked the duvet right off, without sleeping at all. As the radiators were clearly off I don't know what could be done about this, but it would have helped to have been able to gain access to some fresh air.

The Bristol YHA refused the honour the Scottish YHA group membership and only gave the discount to me. Could do better.
