The Youth Hostel in Beja has wonderful facilities for you and your mates. As for sights, you get plenty to choose from. Don't forget this is the largest district in the country, so save at least half a day to see your host town. Visit the monuments, the historic villages and go on the many tours that the Lower Alentejo province has to offer. Go up in a balloon and gaze peacefully at the plains - it'll be an unforgettable experience. With your feet on the ground, find a way of getting to Mértola - why not go by canoe down the Guadiana River and get to know the Guadiana valley nature reserve? - to Monsaraz and to Serpa. The best thing to do is to come for a few days, with plenty of time, so you can enjoy it all at your own pace.

| Like Portugese youthhostels (pousada!) in general the one in Beja has every - basic - thing necessary. Big rooms, this one with a nice balcony. Perfect location, very close to the busstation and the old town. | ||

| only one key for a dorm of six people, weird.
each time i need to get in the room i must have to knock the door.
Or they must have one key for each they need a diferent system with magnetic card. No towels in the rooms | ||
