The romantic town of Bacharach is one of the loveliest places in the Rhine Gorge. The high street has been restored to give an impression of what it might have looked like in the Middle Ages and everywhere in town you’ll find traditional half-timbered houses, picturesque court yards and cosy wine taverns. High above towers Stahleck Castle, one of the most beautiful castles on the Rhine. Built in the 12th century, it now houses the youth hostel. It’s ideal for exciting family holidays and schools trips and equally great for events, workshops, music camps and functions.

We were 4 gals on floor w/teen boys and the bath on floor was theirs. Damen was up one floor. Noise after 10pm very unpleasant. Great location tho and loved the whole ambiance. Well done!! Great breakfasts!! Thank you | ||

| Location was beautiful. The staff and food were great. The only limitation was one shower for both males and females for several rooms with several beds and the shower drain was slow and the shower flooded the one adjacent toliet in the shower area. Other than this one shower problem, every other part of the stay was wonderful, functional, clean.. | ||

| It's a new best experience for me. I never thought I would be able to stay in a castle. The people in the area are very nice even our german room mates. Try the local wine. Ask for the one with "wolfe----"> I forgot the name but it probably translates as dog or a wolf. BTW, clean your table after eating in the mess hall pls, | ||

| I was in a 3 bed dorm room which was very small -I had to sleep in the "pull-out" bed which couldn't even be pulled out the whole way due to it hitting the table. Ie. room was too small for 3 beds. Very clean hostel. No wifi ini the room.. And you pay extra for it. Location is great to see the castle and for the view, but to do anything else - go to town, etc., the location stinks as you have a LONG hike. No lockers. | ||
