The romantic town of Bacharach is one of the loveliest places in the Rhine Gorge. The high street has been restored to give an impression of what it might have looked like in the Middle Ages and everywhere in town you’ll find traditional half-timbered houses, picturesque court yards and cosy wine taverns. High above towers Stahleck Castle, one of the most beautiful castles on the Rhine. Built in the 12th century, it now houses the youth hostel. It’s ideal for exciting family holidays and schools trips and equally great for events, workshops, music camps and functions.

| I loved staying here! The hostel was clean, in a great location and the staff was friendly! I was surprised to find that I was not in a female dorm like I had booked, but it worked out. Would like to have lockers with locks or the opportunity to use my own lock! Great breakfast! | ||

| One of my favorite spots and hostels in all of Europe. I stayed there 7 years ago and loved the experience, and it was just as good the second time around. Beautiful castle, view, great atmosphere, great place to unwind with a beer at the end of the night overlooking the enchanted rhine. Hope to be back again. | ||

| I did not know that I was not corresponding directly with this hostel...but rather with you. When we got there we were in a COED room. They said they always tell in their emails that this is what is available and the choice is ours. We were totally taken back and not happy. Since you do not know this, nothing is put in your correspondence. | ||

| This was my second time staying in this hostel, and I was not disappointed. It was hard hiking up the mountain with my luggage, but it was definitely worth it. | ||

| such a great experience. amazing stargazing from the courtyard, and the most enchanting views. and the hike up was a good workout :) there were a couple little inconveniences... lockable cupboards would have been nice and perhaps later reception hours. but things that are easily overshadowed by the character and comfort of the hostel. thanks! | ||
