Hostel Details |
The romantic small town of Bacharach is one of the loveliest places on the river Rhine. The high street has been restored to give an impression of what it might have looked like in the Middle Ages and everywhere in town you’ll find traditional half-timbered houses, picturesque court yards and cosy wine taverns. High above towers Stahleck Castle, one of the most beautiful castles on the Rhine. Built in the 12th century it now houses the youth hostel. There is a walk through Bacharach along many of its attractions, e. g. the city walls with their defence towers and halfway between town and castle the ruins of the legendary Werner Chapel. The castle tour starting in Bacharach is a trip into the region’s fascinating history. A stay at the Stahlbeck Castle youth hostel is an unforgettable experience in a romantic environment giving an impression of how medieval knights used to live.
