Located in the town of São Roque do Pico, this youth hostel lodges its guests in the XVII century Saint Peter of Alcantara. Become a discoverer, sail to the island of Pico and stay in our Youth Hostel in the town of São Roque. From here you will set forth to discover the island's magnificent history.
If you enjoy being one with nature, you will be happy to know that this town has much to offer in outdoor activities, such as nature walks, bike riding, swimming, fishing (angling or underwater fishing), hunting, camping... São Roque has the essential attractions in order for you to spend unforgettable days. Underwater fishing is very appealing due to the richness of our ocean's fauna and flora and it's interesting rock formations. The observation of these species is also a great activity. As an alternative to underwater observation, you can turn to the Whale Watching companies and spend some time with these magnificent mammals (as with the dolphins). For those whom enjoy hunting: rabbit hunting season is open throughout the year and if you purchase a license, you may also hunt for woodcock, perdizes and quail.
The weather is known to be a bit unstable, but it is mild enough to create the perfect ecosystem, which in it's turn allows the production of tasty delicacies such as the well known island cheese.

| Nice hostel to spend night or 2, but location isn't great. Nothing much in Sao Roque itself, but makes good base for getting around Pico, if have car or for getting ferry to other islands. Hostel response: | ||

| Excellent place, lovely quiet atmosphere (at least, when there aren't to many guests there, eg October!), 4 lounges + other areas to relax including under cover walkway/seating around quadrangle. The place was kept absolutely spotless. Accommodates 62 guests but, I'm told, is always full in Jul/Aug with people booking from 11 months in advance. Just 5 mins walk from seafront and tidal 'piscina'. Lift available to 1st floor for luggage/people with mobility issues. Hostel response: | ||
