This hostel couldn’t be more aptly named – nestled between the lakefront and Shotover St it’s right in the rapidly beating heart of this stunning resort town. All rooms include ensuites and TVs (with free movies) and some have their own private courtyard. The views from the comfortable upstairs lounge make for a most picturesque chill-out zone. The staff are super-friendly and clued up about getting you the best possible deals on activities in Queenstown, which they’re happy to book for free on your behalf.
During winter you can book everything from transport, lessons,clothing and equipment hire for Coronet Peak, Remarkables, Cardrona and Treble Cone ski fields. The hostel has a drying room for winter boots and clothes and for summer tramping gear.
During summer there is an endless list of adrenalin activites or amazing world class tramping tracks to head off into.
The hostel is close to all the pick up points for activities with bars, clubs, cafes and resturantes a stones throw away. There is a 24hr convenience store next door to the hostel.
Guests have access to 24hr internet and wireless.

| Parking: | No parking available, however, opposite the hostel only a 2min walk away is a 300 space underground secure car park from $2 per hour ($14 daily charge) on Mann St with pedestrain access to Shotover street. Alternatively staff can point out free parking on residential streets nearby, please note guests should be aware of any parking or road signage for these areas. |
| Location: | YHA Queenstown Central is located in town on the main street. When coming from the airport you will take the Frankton road into Queenstown which after 15mins drive turns right into Stanley street. Turn left at the second roundabout onto Shotover Street, go over the next 2 roundabouts and you will find the hostel on your left next to a 24hr convenience shop. |
| Airport: | Queenstown airport is 9km from the town centre. Local bus will drop you off 5 minutes walk away from the hostel every 20 mins (approx $5) For extra convenience book a super shuttle at airport to drop you off straight at the hostel from about $10. |

| Almost ideal for those whose aim is to explore the town and the areas around it. The biggest drawback is the lack of on site parking. Also, the kitchen is probably a bit small when occupancy is high. | ||
