This lively hostel is part of a 'Jugendpalast' (Palace of Youth) also housing a radio station, a music school and a press agency for young people. The hostel is situated on the edge of Locarno's gracious old town and makes a good starting point for hiking and biking in the Ticino valleys. Set on the banks of Lake Maggiore, Locarno also makes a good base for watersports.

Remark: The law of the Ticino canton forbids to accommodate young people under 16 years old: they can only stay if there is an adult person with them.

For me this was typical six-bed accomodation in a stuffy room situated in a rather humid region of Switzerland. Only a place to sleep and then scram off. Impersonal experience. Average. But still I was glad hostel accomodation was available in Locarno. I should have remained in Liechtenstein.

I LIKE VERY MUCH THE HOSTEL AND THE STAFF, THEY WERE VERY KIND WITH ME. IT WAS A PITY THAT THE TWO DAYS I STAYED IN LOCARNO RAINED A LOT SO I COULDN´T DO MANY THINGS, I WALKED UNDER THE RAIN AND I SAW LOVELY STREETS, CHURCHS, SO ON. I HAVE TO COME BACK.
