Lisbon Catalazete hostel offers you a unique hostelling experience. Be inspired with one of HI's 'hostels with a difference' - an 18th century fortl! This restored fort hostel is one of the HI network of hostels in Portugal, and one of four hostels in the Lisbon area. The Catalazete Hostel is a great hostel for young people who want to see Lisbon and explore the Estoril coastline. The hostel is loacted in the town of Oeiras where you will find a wealth of sport and leisure facilities, such as the Vale do Jamor sports complex where the National Stadium is and a seawater public swimming pool, which is next to the hostel. If you prefer the beach, Carcavelos is the nearest one, or, alternatively take a train along the coast for a host of others to choose from. Catalazete hostel invites you to come and have a drink and watch the Tagus River meet the Atlantic Ocean.

| It's situated quite off from Lisbon. A 15min walk to the train station in Oeiras and a 25 min train ride to the main station in Lisbon. Otherwise it's still quite nice, with a view on the ocean and relatively quiet! And nevertheless, we enjoyed it. | ||

| Stayed for 1 week. From the windows you can see the ocean. 2 min walk either left or right to big beautiful beaches. No atmosphere though lots of families. Very difficult to meet people as communal area is next to the reception. Extremely quiet for the first 5 days then they got a youth group and the noise didn't stop. People playing basketball outside your window at 3am and yelling in the corridors and slamming doors, I felt very sorry for the families with young children who were staying there. Wifi doesn't reach rooms. Cleaners and breakfast staff ok but can be strict and at times rude, although also had really nice interactions with other staff members. Continental breakfast is just a continental breakfast but the bread is fresh. There is not much happening in oeiras except the beaches. Cab to Lisbon is 20 euros. BUT if you want somewhere low key for beach holiday this is great value for money and in prime position. | ||
