This hostel is a seasonal hostel, which means it is not open all year and has seaonal opening times. Please keep this is mind when checking avaliability. Hardanger is a name that Norwegians associate with blossom and fruit. Lofthus is located in the middle of the orchard of Norway! A mild and pleasant climate and clear, light summer nights are ideal for our guests, as much as for fruit and berries. From the hostel, you have easy access to the Hardangerfjord, the Hardangervidda National Park and two of Norway?s largest glaciers, Folgefonna and Hardangerjøkulen. From mountains and glaciers the majestic waterfalls foam down into the queen of fjords.

| Fabulous hostel in a beautiful white house overlooking the fiord. Spacious rooms, big clean kitchen, well equipped, and picnic tables overlooking the fiord.
the only slight problem is the narrow roads leading to it and it could do with a hihostel sign on the turn off to the hostel.

| We arrived at 22.25 and the reception was closed. There was no info about reception hours (from 4 to 10 pm, by the way) on the website nor on the confirmation email, so we didn't think we should called and let them know our arrival time. Being locked outside knowing that our card would have been charged anyway for that night and after a 4h30' drive was very disappointing.
Luckily we managed to find a phone number (that was not the one on the confirmation email, where no one answered) and finally a really kind guy came and let us check in, even if his shift was over. Beside this, everything at the hostel was amazing. Excellent breakfast, stunning view, nice clean and warm rooms.

| Need a car to get there. Great view from hostel in good weather I imagine. Narrow road, so take care driving there. You need to take sheets or pay - this needs to be clearer when booking. Good breakfast. Nice area with plenty of cherries in season. | ||

| I've stayed at many pricey hostels in Norway and this by far is the most value for money. The hostel is a school outside of school periods thus the rooms are in a twin bed dorm layout with communal showers and toilets at the end of the corridors. Very clean and the best view I've seen in Norway. One of those OMG this can't be real sorts of landscapes. Breakfast is a great bonus as well Buffet and very 'scandanavian'. A great and highly recommendable hostel! | ||
